The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) announced today that Pakistani radar systems are actively monitoring Indian drone movements along the border following heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
In a press conference held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the DG ISPR, Lieutenant General,, stated, “Our advanced radar systems have detected increased drone activity from the Indian side of the border in recent days. Pakistan’s armed forces remain vigilant and are closely monitoring all aerial movements.”
The statement comes in the wake of the May 7 incident in Pahalgam, which further strained the already tense relations between Pakistan and India. According to military sources, the number of drone incursions has increased significantly following the Pahalgam incident.
“We have observed a pattern of reconnaissance drones operating within their territory but close to the border. Our air defense systems are on high alert, and we are prepared to respond to any violation of our airspace,” the DG ISPR added.
The military spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to peace but will not compromise on national security. “While we do not seek escalation, our armed forces are fully prepared to defend our territorial integrity against any threat.”
Regional security experts view these developments as particularly concerning given the history of conflicts between the two nations. Dr. Hassan Malik, a defense analyst based in Islamabad, told reporters, “The use of drone technology for surveillance represents a new dimension in the long-standing tensions between Pakistan and India. It allows for intelligence gathering without risking personnel, but also increases the risk of miscalculation.”
The Foreign Office of Pakistan has reportedly communicated its concerns through diplomatic channels, urging India to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to address outstanding issues.
International observers are closely watching the situation, with the United Nations and several countries calling for calm and restraint from both sides to prevent any further escalation in the region.
Meanwhile, Pakistani military officials confirmed that additional air defense systems have been deployed along the eastern border as a precautionary measure.
The DG ISPR concluded the briefing by reassuring the public that the situation is under control and the armed forces remain committed to ensuring national security.
